Creative Economy South Africa

Culture is the soul of our cities. It drives how we connect, create, and grow. In September, during FAME Week Africa 2025 in Cape Town, more than 60 individuals and organizations from Atlanta came together to showcase the city’s talent and explore pathways for collaboration in culture, film, and creative tech. We participated in panels, cultural and business tours, and special showcases such as the Atlanta Block at the FAME Shorts Film Festival. We joined the Creative Leaders Luncheon, celebrated the launch of the UNDP timbuktoo Africa Creative Tech Hub, and witnessed community-driven innovation at an after-school program and RLabs.

Atlanta’s creative economy is a powerful engine for innovation and cultural diplomacy. With the global creative economy projected to reach $2T, and Africa capturing a growing share, now is the time to build Afro-Atlantic creative bridges. Together, Atlanta and South Africa can craft authentic narratives with global resonance. What stood out most was the shared eagerness from Atlanta and Cape Town to turn these exchanges into long-term partnerships. By continuing to invest in creativity and collaboration, we can uplift local talent and further strengthen Atlanta’s role on the global cultural and economic stage.

Big thank you to Mayor Andre Dickens, the incredible City of Atlanta departments, FAME Week Africa, MASSIVEATL.GA for the leadership and vision, and the many Atlanta participants for curating this experience. Let’s continue to build on this momentum.
