Today we find ourselves thinking back to Smart City Expo World Congress #SCEWC24 and lessons learned. As part of Tomorrow.Building, TheSharedWorld had the chance to have an honest discussion and highlight how 6 organizations from the Netherlands, France, Germany, Ireland, and Spain are alining their research, smart city projects, and sustainable construction practices with cities and regions to build resilient and future proof communities, to combat climate change, and achieve decarbonization targets.
🏙 Globally, buildings account for about 40% of carbon emissions and consume more than 30% of the world’s energy. Looking closer to home, the local landscapes present unique obstacles and opportunities. As cities and communities worldwide grapple with the urgent need to combat climate change and local climate conditions, they face aging infrastructure, regulatory compliance, financial costs, urban planning complexities, challenging governmental procedures, internal citizen engagement and the integration of technology. While many challenges, there are also opportunities for innovation and leadership in sustainability. One key takeaway is the importance of collaboration between civil societies, private sector, educational institutions, research institutions, government, and communities.

Established to address the challenges of climate adaptation and mitigation through implementation of emerging technologies.
