Network Effect ATL: Amplifiers, Cultural Influencers Shape Social Narratives

Sustainability. Social impact. Culture. Community. Connection. Inspiring better lives. Connecting clean energy to the masses by simplifying the language. Shared humanity. These are just some of the north stars that brought cross-sector individuals together last Friday at hashtag#NetworkEffectATL, or as I like to call it, the Intentional “We’re Gonna Do Something About It” Tribe.

At the heart of it all is connection. And for connection to happen, we must build deep relationships, establish trust, listen closely to local communities, and leave behind the jargon. We must SIMPLIFY to scale. This was one of my favorite events to date, thoughtfully curated by Lynne Filderman and Daniel Blackman of Renaissance94,in partnership with 3BL,and hosted at Southern Company. Thank you Marianne Faloni for connecting us!

I want to especially highlight the two incredible panelists from my session, The Amplifiers: The Power of Culture to Shape Social Narratives. Their insights were a powerful reminder that culture moves people, and trust sustains movements. Together, they showed how these forces come together to create lasting impact.

Michael Hawthorne Jr. Co-founder of Klean Energy Kulture, environmentalist, and a bridge between clean energy and lifestyle through hip hop culture. Michael is making clean energy accessible by meeting people where they are. As he put it: “Even if we scale every possible technology and put the right policies in place, if consumers haven’t changed their lifestyles, there will be a lack of adoption. Culture must become a critical investment.”

Maegan Moguel,Senior Manager, Cultural Marketing at Red Bull has an incredible background including the Braves, Porsche, and Falcons, but most importantly she is a powerful advocate for community-driven change. Maegan reminded us:”You have to build WITH people — that’s how you build trust.”Culture moves people. Trust sustains movements. This is how we create lasting impact.

And big shoutout to Maya Penn, award winning global climate solutionist, founder, artist, animator who at just 8 years old founded her own eco-friendly clothing company. The youth is the future.
