Building a truly glocal (global + local) ecosystem requires intentional spaces where local communities, international partners, businesses, artists, institutions, and civic leaders can come together to exchange ideas, build relationships, and identify new opportunities for collaboration.
A special thank you to Ryan Howard of The CTR Atlanta, Neda Abghari of ASHA ADVISORY | art consulting + creative placekeeping + brand activation, and A.R. Cooper of Art In The Paint for opening their doors to Atlanta’s international community and co-hosting a special tour and conversation with members of the diplomatic corps, binational chambers of commerce, community-based organizations, and educational institutions.
Located in the heart of Downtown Atlanta and just steps from Mercedes-Benz Stadium, Centennial Olympic Park, and the Georgia World Congress Center, The CTR Atlanta is uniquely positioned to become an important gathering place as Atlanta welcomes the world for the FIFA World Cup and beyond.
One of the conversations of the day centered around placemaking. Great cities are not defined solely by their buildings, but by the experiences, connections, and sense of belonging they create. Through culture, art, storytelling, and community engagement, placemaking transforms spaces into destinations where people gather, connect, and build relationships. As Atlanta prepares to welcome visitors from around the globe, these types of intentional spaces will be critical to fostering cultural exchange, strengthening international partnerships, and creating economic opportunities that extend well beyond the tournament.
It was wonderful to tour the space, reflect on the history of this iconic building, learn more about the vision for its future, and explore opportunities for collaboration with Atlanta’s international community.
